Right Girl, Wrong Time Period

If there is one thing I've learned so far since being in Italy, it is that I was born in the wrong time period. The more I see and learn about the way of life here in the past, I fall more and more in love!

On Day 5 (Sept 1), we took a train to Tivoli, a charming little village among the hills outside Rome.

Here we visited the Villa d'Este, a beautiful villa built by a cardinal to show off his power and wealth. And boy did he out do himself! The Villa was beautiful but the gardens were incredible. I've never seen so many water features in my life!
Walk with me...

GORGEOUS right?!
We spent over 2 hours just wandering through here, meandering through the hedges. It was the perfect setting for a Jane Austen novel. I wanted so badly to be dressed in a sparkling  gown and an over-sized hat,  with a parasol in one hand and the other resting on the arm of a dashing young man, whispering sweet nothings into my ear and stealing secret kisses around a hedge or two... (sigh).

ok ok..got a bit carried away there but seriously you couldn't help but let the romantic inside of you runaway with a fairytale. This place was magical.

Day 6 (Sept 2) was a relaxing sunday of church, resting, and talking with family!
We attending the Rome first ward and it was such a neat experience! Walking into the church building I instantly felt at home and in such a familiar place. We were welcomed so warmly by all the members and missionaries, the love they showed was incredible. Placed in the front of the Relief Society room was a beautiful painting of what the Rome Temple will look at. I could feel their excitement and anticipation for having a temple of their own. There faith and testimonies were so strong, despite the language barrier I was uplifted and refreshed through the Spirit of Jesus Christ. The Church is true where ever you go. What an incredible blessing!
