Sometimes it just hits me. It sends shivers up my spine and tinglies in my toes. Causes joyous grins and uncontrollable giggles.

Tonight was one of those nights as I stood out on my balcony to this view:
Yes that is the dome of St. Peter's Basilica.

Today (August 28) has been Day 1 here in Rome. We flew in this morning, got settled in our hotel and freshened up, then hit the city. We walked the city for about 3 hours, just getting the feel and testing out our map skills (which need improvement by the way). Here's a bit of what we saw:

I also enjoyed my first pizza here in Rome!
All in all I would consider it a very successful but exhausting first day in Rome!
So excited to follow you Ness!! What an amazing adventure this will be that you will always remember. Maybe you'll meet an Italian boy who will feed you pasta and recite love poems to you by night! Be safe. Love you!
